Description of Zenidoc client for iPod/iPhone/iPad platform :

This application is a workflow client featuring mainly a work list (a 'todo' list) that displays tasks to handle, and a voice recorder, in order to create sounds, notes, or/and pictures to send through network (3G, Edge or Wi-fi) towards your own server, or your company's server, or your partners' server. Furthermore, if you work with one or more secretaries (typists), they can send you back a PDF document you will validate or reject (or a simple text file if you don't have a PDF printer driver).

The client connects to YOUR server or your company's server or your partners' server. It's the same client that is to be used with the free server version or the complete server version. The compatible web servers, at the moment, are IIS and Abyss running on windows platform (XP for example), a simple isapi dll and a program running forever are enough for the free version. The complete version is a set of server components acting like a DMS (Document Management System), a workflow system, a shared agenda, a sql server, and even more if you add third-party products like speech recognition for example (is currently running in several french hospitals in order to organize automatically each medical unit activity with synergy and efficiency).

Features of free server version :

      - Free 'MiniPortail' required (program running on your PC) : 'MiniPortail' installation.
      - The voice recorder included in the Workflow client allows sound creation/editing. Format is 16 bits mono at 11Khz (high enough frequency for possible speech recognition).
      - You can add additional attachements (text note, pictures picked up from iPhone albums).
      - You can view PDF documents, results of your voice report transcription by a secretary (to validate or to reject).
      - You can view PDF documents connected to a selected task.
      - You can view a static agenda maintained by yourself on server side..
      - Communicates with server through HTTP or HTTPS protocol (HTTPS is recommanded. Client is compatible with all SSL certificates, including the auto-signed SSL certificate created by Abyss).
      - Creating new voice reports does not require network connectivity (you can send files later).
      - Client is able to resume where it stopped (remembers cursor position while recording a speech, remembers progress during file transferts) because of any interruption (incoming phone call, or any other reason).
      - You can use any server URL, including free dynamic DNS server adresses.

Additional features of complete server version :

      - Strong link between shared Zenidoc (or any other) agenda appointments and the workflow tasks created automatically.
      - Coming from server side, a form, to fill in, can be attached to the tasks (made of dropdown lists, text fields, check boxes, etc... that will hold data used in the production of a PDF document -for validation process- and, eventually, other documents with different formats, to publish, showing up the data filled in inside the form)
      - Filling in a form does not require network connectivity (you can send files later).
      - Infinite ways of creating responses or tasks automatically, thanks to a strong integration of our products inside your existing systems, with the help of our teams, with the whole thing managed by our highly flexible Workflow circuits.

    Technical support :

    Frequently asked questions (FAQ) :

Q : After a phone call application asks me to stop it in order to resume recording where it stopped. How do I do that?
A : Under iOS 4 hitting square button is no longer enough. Hit it once (puts app to sleep) then hit it twice, then in the small horizontal list of running tasks, keep your finger on the application until it shakes. Hit the little red circle.

Q : Sometimes (not all the time), I get a .spx.old file beside .wav and .caf files on server side. What is it?
A : If there is enough memory (iPhone 3G and iPod 2G have less memory than more recent models) and if sound is almost recorded at once, a .spx file, built up progressively (Speex compression) is sent to server instead of .caf file (transfert speed gets accelerated 6 up to 9 times)

Q : I've seen that it's possible to connect with an empty login and an empty password if you teach the server the device UUID. Where do I find it? (Zenidoc application)
R : Launch iTunes, connect the device, look for its serial number, click it, then press Ctrl+C or Cmd+C in order to copy its UUID (40 hexa figures) into the clipboard. Press Ctrl+V or Cmd+V in order to paste it inside a text file. The free application 'Adhoc helper' in AppStore allows you, as well, to send it through e-mail. Note that tasks are stored separately per triplet (server name, login ,password), thus allowing the sharing of the same device by several users, but in that case, it's better to declare a username and a password for each person that will use the same device. If the device is to be used by only one person, empty login is very comfortable and very safe. In case device is stolen or lost, just remove the UUID declaration on server side.

Q : I've seen that it's possible to connect with an empty login and an empty password if you teach the server the device UUID. Where do I find it? (ZenidocPlus application)
R : Launch ZenidocPlus, click Menu button then Connection test button. The UUID will appear (it may change if you re-install completely the application, it's a new restriction coming with iOS 6+ which no longer allows to read the UDID -unique device id- of the device).
